TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Day one had finally come, but it wasn't a joyous occasion. Today would mark the first day that Robbie would go without his companion Rex. It took him several returns to say good bye before he could go to school without his friend. Even walking the halls felt odd, his hand bare and now people stared right at him and not Rex. It was all too much, it was the reason why he liked to have Rex around, he couldn't take the social pressure. He knew that of all the kids, aside from Sinjin, were incredible good looking and confident. He had his crutch, and without his friend he was left to be pray to the world.
Today he brought something different to school, however, his acoustic guitar with his harmonica set as well. He figured he'd take time at the end of the day before driving home to wallow in some lonesome pity before seeing Rex again. Classes seemed to be pointless and lunch felt even more lonely without Rex around. He had to try to distance just as they had agreed with one another to for what was coming up for them. In the halls between classes people approached him asking who he was delivering the guitar to, he'd say it was his, and they'd laugh like he told a joke. It was heaps of defeat on his part, but if only Rex were around he'd have something quirky to fire right back at them.
When the final bell rang he scurried out of the classroom before he could say goodbye to any of his close friends and made his way out onto the grounds. He found his usually quiet spot he used to flee to after getting picked on when he first started at the school, behind a rather matured tree. He leaned back against it after sitting and withdrawing his instruments. He set up his harmonica around his neck and tuned up his guitar before going through exercises to train his transitions. He went from Bm to G#m, then to E, then to A. From A to C#m then from there to F#m. Then quickly D to G then A. He repeated that a few times, it being the chords to a favorite song of his. He finished and released a sigh. "What'd you think of that one, Re-...oh...never mind" he looked down in a fall of defeat.

After grabbing her books and closing her locker for the final time of the day, Riley sighed to herself. Being the new kid really did suck, like all the time. She only knew a handful of people, and she didn't know them well enough to call them friends.
Classes were boring, as she basically did nothing all day long. Lunch was a bore, some creep sat down next to her. Shoving her books inside of her bag, she sighed, Maybe her sister was having better luck than she was.
Walking out of the school building, Riley had to cover her eyes as the sunlight blinded her a bit, at times she swore she was a vampire. Once her eyes adjusted to the light, she groaned as she remembered something. Instead of being able to go straight home, she'd have to wait for her sister to arrive to her car. Man she hated waiting.
As she waited, the sound of a guitar hit Riley's ears. Riley was use to the sound of a guitar, as her father often played one. But if you asked her any kind of trivia about them, well it would go over her head. She liked guitars, but most of the time a lot of the stuff about them confused her. Tucking some loose hair behind her ear, she decided to go speak to whoever was playing the said instrument.
As she walked closer, she noticed it was a boy. An older boy who looked like he was talking to himself. Maybe that was normal for people in Hollywood Arts, besides who was she to judge?
"I thought it sounded good"

TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Rex was more than just a best friend to Robbie, he was everything Robbie couldn't be himself. He was confident, flirtatious, clever, and all around more sociable. Internally Robbie knew that his friends likely would've preferred Rex's company over his own, whenever he wasn't with Rex they seemed more likely to pick on him anyway. He remembered the first time he had almost lost Rex for good, but luck was on his side wen that came around. Now things had changed, he didn't know if it was more for the better or the worse, as he was going to choose between college and his best friend. The day was bound to come eventually and the sooner he came to terms with it, the better.
Time just wasn't passing quickly enough, so he went from his exercises into a steady tempo song, one that his father used to play often when he was younger. It really did speak for the moment pretty well, when he was younger he didn't need help, but now those days were gone. He felt lonely, like without Rex he wasn't much of a personality. At least not one anyone would want to be kind to. He had Beck, whom thought he was like a little brother to pat on the head when he made a fool of himself. He also had Andre who was so much cooler than Robbie that he felt like a sidekick. He was already Rex's sidekick, it wasn't like he needed to make a habit of it. Tori seemed annoyed with him often, Cat was kind to him...likely out of pity, and Jade...well it was best not to touch on Jade's opinion of him. On the bright side, he was sure that he and Sinjin were at least tied for unpopularity.
The moment that he stopped playing he felt incredibly low. He wasn't focusing on the song anymore as much as he was on just how he had gotten himself this alone. Then a voice piped up, making him jump slightly. "Holy fudge-nuggets!" he exclaimed in his surprise. Her words registered a moment later and he grinned cheekily. "Really? You did?...Thanks, we haven't met have we?" he hinted straightening up slightly before moving to stand. He dusted off his pants and leaned his epiphone against the tree. "I'm Robert, I mean Rob, I mean Bobby...no I mean Robbie. Just Robbie" he felt like a complete idiot, two seconds into a conversation and he already screwed it up.

Upon hearing the older boy exclaim something about nuggets of fudge being holy, Riley blinked, trying to hold back a laugh and failing. She had no idea if this was a typical thing for him, but it was funny to watch. Shaking her head at his question, Riley smiled. "No we haven't met. I'm new here actually, I moved here from Chicago." she informed him.
"You don't mind if I sit down, do you?" she asked. Riley hated standing for long periods of time, she was use to being on her feet practically all the time. Even though her shoes had gel inserts, her feet would still hurt. That's probably what she got for walking around everywhere back in Chicago.
Setting her backpack down onto the ground, Riley sat down next to curly headed afro boy. "Well Just Robbie, I'm Riley Mitchell." she introduced herself. Crossing her legs, she turned to face him. "So how long have you been playing the guitar?" she asked him.

TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Of all the things to go and say to embarrass himself, he went with an exclamation that he truly only reserved for moments of complete shock. Yet, there he went, blabbing about and making himself look like a complete bag of tools. Yes, bag of tools, like instead of having a tool box using a grocery bag in loo of it. Likely to tear into pieces when the tools so much as jiggled around a little. "Really?" all lights and sirens went off in Robbie's head that this girl just may not know that he is the biggest loser on campus! Well, other than Sinjin of course. That kid was always good as a fall back to make himself feel better. "When did you get here?"
Without a moment of hesitation Robbie shook his head, showing that he had no quarrel with her going to sit. He returned to his seated position and patted the spot next to him. "You don't have to ask, by the way, I'm not like the major of sitting or something" he laughed nervously after saying that before wishing he hadn't. The more he tried not to be a loser, to be smooth, the more he fit the bill.
A blush rose to his features at the embarrassment of being addressed as 'Just Robbie' from his mistake filled introduction. "Nice to meet you, Riley" he gave her a small smile then went back to picking up his guitar and plucking around a little before starting in on a song that he had been working hard on covering, Falling in love in a coffee shop, that was it's name and he was still getting down the chorus. "A couple of years, but I stopped for a while. I've started to get back into it though. What'd you do for your audition to get in?"

Riley paused on Robbie's question of how long she had actually been at Hollywood. "Not that long actually. I have only been here for a few weeks, we moved here shortly before the semester started. My father got a job transfer here, better pay, that sort of stuff you know." she explained to him.
Removing her hat, Riley gently fixed her hair. That was the bad thing about hats, they give you hat hair. Fixing a few strands of hair out of her eyes, she looked over at him. "I did the ending monologue from Shakespeare's play Midsummer Night's Dream, the one with the totally cool Satyr guy Puck." she told him.
"But to be honest, I thought I wasn't going to get accepted. The principal really freaked me out." Riley added. The principal was named Helen, and she was a big woman. Well bigger than Riley at least.
"Speaking of auditions, what did you do for your audition? Play the guitar?" she asked him.

TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Score! Robbie inwardly did a little victor dance. A girl didn't know he was a complete nerd yet! All that meant is now he just had to steer clear of looking like an absolute loser and he'd be set. If fate was kind enough to him he could try out some of those reliable sounding pick up lines he got from Rex...or maybe he shouldn't...no he should! "Oh yeah, that's really..er...cool, yeah. What's it like over in Chicago?" he couldn't imagine it was anything like Hollywood in the slightest, he had seen other places outside of LA of course, but he never had been to Chicago of all places.
She said a word that always troubled him so fiercely: Shakespeare. He searched his mind for a mention of the poet and playwright in there, but only turned up with Sikowitz mentioning him...then clipping his toenails. That certainly wasn't going to help. Although, he knew what a satyr was after watching that movie with a 'closet' and the four kids. Whatever it was, that must've been what 'Puck' was. "Well then, let's hear it" he said confidently. "Still remember a few of the lines?"
Robbie nodded along with what Riley had to say about Principal Helen. "I still think she accepted Rex and not me" it sounded like a joke, but to him that felt very realistic. His features turned a shade of crimson at her question, thinking it would be rather pathetic and he'd probably be asked to come up with a joke and it likely wouldn't be funny. "Comedy...then I tried for acting, but I recently changed to music. It's starting to turn into me not being good at just about anything"

"Mostly windy. But it was a really cool place, I mean where we live I could walk to a lot of places" Riley began to explain to Robbie. "The only bad thing was that we lived almost next door to a butcher shop" she added, making a sick face.
"Of course I do, it's probably my favorite monologue." she told him and cleared her throat. "If we shadows have offended, think but this; and all is mended that you have but slumbered here while these visions did appear and this weak and idle theme no more yielding but a dream. Gentles--do not reprehend if you pardon, we will mend. And, as I am an honest Puck if we have unearned luck. Now to scape the serpents tongue. We will make amends ere long else the Puck a liar call. So--goodnight unto you all. Give me your hands if we be friends. And Robin shall restore amends."
"Rex?" Riley questioned, obviously confused. He had just randomly mentioned either a person or animal named Rex. "Who is Rex? Like your dog or something? Cause that's pretty cool if your dog helped you get into school."

TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Robbie was listening intently until he cringed at the dreaded words, butcher shop. He couldn't even stand the thought of that revolting stuff. He was a vegetarian after all, but by choice with his allergies and his distaste for beef, chicken, turkey, etc. "That is the grossest thing ever...well, maybe not the grossest, my Grandma's bunion has to be the grossest. Second grossest?" he knew it was just the sort of thing not to say to a girl, but he couldn't deny his inherent nerdiness. "I can't even stand the smell of meat sometimes..."
As she went about reciting her monologue he watched her intently, listening to her tone specifically to catch every word, the diction coming out clearly and her tone steady yet holding on to her syllables in just the right way. He could see why she passed the audition. He couldn't help the smile that formed when she came to a close, giving her a little clap of applause. "Yeah, you definitely belong here" he joked.
Rex was a tender spot for Robbie lately, but when she asked about him and wondered who he was Robbie released a small chuckle. "You could say he is my 'dog' but more like my 'dawg' than like...the animal. He's my best friend" to Robbie he wasn't a dummy, he was actually a person with a personality and his own mind and free will. Sure, his free will involved Robbie's controls. But so far he was pretty sure that Rex was a person all on his own.

Listening to his intake on meat, Riley was glad to meet another vegetarian. All of her friends back home ate meat around just to see her freak out, even her older sister ate meat. She was the only person in her family to not eat meat. "Oh wow, it's really nice to meet another vegetarian. So now I'm not the only person who feels like they have to take copious amounts of b-12 vitamins." she smiled.
Hearing his applause Riley smiled even more. She had only been to Hollywood Arts for a few days and she already had somebody clapping for. Maybe her sister was right, maybe she was going to become a really good actress. "Aw, why thank you." she said to his compliment about belonging to the school.
As Robbie began to speak about this Rex character, Riley became more interested. He had just randomly mentioned who Rex was, and if he attended the school she would want to meet him. "That's cool. So what grade is Rex in? And how did he get into the school?"

TELL ME THAT YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT&& Y O U R B I R D C A N S I N GBUT YOU DON'T GET ME, YOU DON'T GET ME Robbie's parent's didn't make too much of a case about his choice in being a vegetarian. Although, the actual 'choice' was in issue in a different sense. They were convinced it was an action for animal rights or a protest against something majorly significant. Yet, it turned out to just be a health and lifestyle idea. They didn't seem to understand the concept of doing something without it being an act of protest. "I can't let you take on the burden in being alone with that, it would just be impolite of me" he shot a grin her way.
He didn't register that her being new and all, this could've been one of her first major compliments on her abilities. He had been thinking that she had a good enough understanding of her abilities if she was so easy with displaying them so flawlessly. Plus, it always helped with acting to be really good looking. She had that part nailed down, but he wouldn't entertain anything in that field, he knew where he belonged and she was the type to go along with the more model-like types about the grounds. "You're very welcome, I should be thanking you for that. I'm tired of seeing the same old scenes played out, it's nice to see someone using something different, something...fresh" he did his best not to give any hints that he thought of her as a little bit on the cute side.
Along came the moment he was dreading, the time when she'd give him the 'wacko' look then leave promptly, what kind of a freak would think of this way he did anyway? He couldn't fathom it any other way. "Um, he's not technically in a grade and I...well, I sorta am the reason he comes. He's a-...tell you what, I'll just introduce you to him sometime, alright?" he felt pretty low internally over being embarrassed by it, but he didn't want to ruin his only shot at having a friend that didn't think he was a loser just yet. It wasn't like he had much of an opportunity to socialize with attractive girls, and this one at least gave him the time of day.

"I'm the only person to act out a scene from Shakespeare? Crazy" Riley said in disbelief. Didn't a lot of acting classes mention him at least once in their lesson? If not, then weird. "Well don't worry, you shall see more Shakespeare from me. Also a lot of monologue's from cult classic movies." she informed him. If he loved cult classic's like Fear In Loathing In Las Vegas & Rocky Horror Picture Show, then she was pretty sure that moving to LA was a good decision.
Listening to Robbie speak about Rex, she gave him a slightly confused look but none the less accepted that she would get to meet the infamous Rex sooner or later. She now hoped that she would a have another friend, if Robbie considered her his friend by now, soon. Looking out at the parking lot, a glimpse of vibrant pink hair caught her eye. Riley had finally spotted her sister. Grabbing a piece of scrap paper, she quickly scribbled her cell number onto it.
"Well it looks like my ride is here, sadly. Here is my number" she said placing her pen back into her pocket and handed her number to him. "Maybe you, me and Rex can go grab like a vegan cupcake or something?" she said with a shrug.
